martyrdom
is so last

century.

We make painful self-sacrifices in pursuit of what society has taught us is “success.” As we strive for what we think we’re supposed to want, we neglect our own needs and suffer for the sake of others.

Katie McDonald knows that has to change. A keynote speaker and self-care strategist, Katie disrupts this toxic dynamic by confronting audiences with a powerful question: “How DARE you deprive us of your best self?”

In her powerful, mindset-shifting keynote speech, “Self-care isn’t selfish. It is your duty,” Katie challenges audiences to embrace self-care—not just as their right, but as their responsibility to themselves, their loved ones, and the world.

Katie’s speech will recenter your spirit, invigorate your soul, and set you up for sustainable success…no martyrdom mandated.

Click a section below to learn about Katie McDonald’s journey from self-sacrifice to self-care.

On paper, Katie McDonald had it all. She was an international sales rockstar who outhustled the competition and crushed her goals in the U.S., Europe, and Canada.

But Katie’s relentless drive for productivity came at the expense of everything that mattered: her relationships, her time, her health, her emotional wellbeing. The demands of her corporate career occupied her every waking moment.

Then, one day, she missed one meeting. One.

Her mental health was already so precarious, that’s all it took to push her over the edge.

Katie had no choice. Facing spiraling mental and physical health crises that threatened her life, Katie’s have-it-all-together fantasy was quickly crumbling.

She had to take action for herself—immediately.

Katie left her corporate career behind…and life started to get better. Slowly but surely, she started making meaningful investments in herself and her wellbeing.

And as Katie began to grow past her destructive habits, something incredible happened: after years of trying and failing, Katie conceived a child. By letting go of the perfection she had spent years seeking and finally making decisions instead of reacting, Katie started to think intentionally about every choice she made—and for the first time in her adult life, Katie started actively implementing everything she had ever learned about self-care, but never practiced.

Today, self-care is at the very center of everything Katie McDonald does. Fully recovered from years of self-neglect, Katie now helps fellow doers embrace self-care so they can do more and be more while leading healthier, more intentional, and more nourished lives.

Katie leads with tough love to inspire, empower, and challenge audiences. She dispels the pernicious myth that self-care is an obstacle to productivity and teaches that self-care is, in fact, a tool to create a more powerful and impactful legacy.

Katie will be the first to tell you, “thriving” isn’t a permanent state of being, but an every-day journey of small triumphs and set-backs. That’s why she created the b.nourished planner: to give anyone, anywhere who’s ready to leave their detrimental habits in the past a day-by-day, step-by-step guide to practicing self-care.

This isn’t just another speech.

it’s a big,

in-your-face

wake up call.

Katie knows that, when it comes to self-care, most audiences are sleepwalking through their days.

This speech will hit them like a sound-barrier-shattering alarm clock with a busted SNOOZE button. Katie’s message and performance in “Self-care isn’t selfish. It is your duty” make an immediate, lasting impact that’s impossible to ignore.

Katie won’t just wake your audience up. She’ll challenge them to take action in their own lives—immediately—and she’ll give them the tools they need to do it. Katie crushes destructive myths and teaches audiences how to liberate themselves from self-sacrificing habits by being deLIBERATE in their self-care.

When audiences walk out of this speech, they’re recentered, refocused, and recharged—and they’ll never want to doze off again.

*To accommodate different meeting needs, conference agendas, and audiences, this keynote can be adapted to fit 20 minute and 30 minute time slots. It can also be delivered in genderless or female gendered language.

You’ve probably heard that you should never wake up a sleepwalker. Yeah. That doesn’t apply here.
